Torenia are somewhat of a legacy in the Proven Winners spring collection. This year, one of Proven Winners most popular varieties is joined by Large Violet, a larger version of 'Blue (Violet)'. This filtered-sun lover provides superb color throughout even the hottest months of the year and does well in pots and window boxes. Like all the rest of the Summer Waves, this plant thrives in high humidity. Plant it alone, or combine it with Sutera cordata (Bacopa) or Supertunias.

Here is feedback from a customer in Leroy, Kansas:

"I purchased some flowers...and had great results. My favorite was The 'Summer Wave' Large Violet, Torenia Hybrid. I have never had four little plants grow like that for me before. The huge planter on my porch had about a 3-4 foot diameter with beautiful purple blooms all Summer long. It looked like a vase of lovely thick flowers you would expect to see in a Park or a Zoo. It was absolutely the most beautiful plants I have ever grown personally in all my many years of gardening. Thank you so much for the healthy, wonderful plants. They were so beautiful from May - September. I had a good run." - BG McCarter

    • Used this in many client pots for a pop of purple in shade locations however it does not flower in shade. In part shade where it gets some sun, it is doing great but in full shade locations it is green but not a single flower. A bit disappointing but in brighter locations it’s beautiful.

    • Filled a large pot on our entry porch along with some bright red geraniums... a perfect pairing. The torenia spilled out of the pot and draped beautifully around it, longer and fuller than anticipated, and they filled any gap in the geraniums. It was constantly in bloom, a rich green and bright violet plant with a little bit of an exotic look.. The geraniums also bloomed consistently and made an exquisite eye-catching display in the centre of it all. The blooms were approximately three feet across and draped about eighteen inches. We received many, many accolades for having such a cheery greeting for anyone arriving to our home.

    • Have this in a hanging basket on the shady side of my back porch. It has overflowed with blooms all over, just as promised!!! The most beautiful plant ever. I will definitely incorporate more of them in my yard next year.

    • Amazingly abundant color for my partially to mostly shady garden. Loves the way that spent flowers are not obtrusive so I can take my time to deadhead them.

    • This plant was the only one I had that was still beautiful at the end of August when all the others were looking tired.

    • Performed beautifully in part shade, but a 2nd container in full shade did not bloom. In full shade the foliage was lush, but had no flowers at all, despite using fertilizer regularly. This plant should be labeled "part shade" not "part shade/shade."

    • I have brought a planter with this beautiful flower the past 3 yrs. The hummingbird love them. I would say they make my favorite flower baskets.
