Professional Growing Information I love Angelonia, but it had never thrived in my zone 10b garden. I had given up on Angelonia. The other varieties I tried were the small ones, and I noticed that this one was much larger and seemed more robust. I decided to give it another chance, and am so glad I did! This plant has been an excellent performer, with large, abundant, lilac and white blooms. seeing the success with this Wedgewood Blue, I decided to try two of the White. Hopefully I will see the same success with those. I love how these are striking, non invasive plants add vertical color to my garden. They look great at the base of taller plants, like my roses.

Angelonia are heat-loving plants that will grow most vigorously and bloom best when the heat is on. They are plants best planted in mid-spring or later, since they won't really grow until the temperatures warm up. Angelonia will tolerate wet feet and a fair amount of drought. The plants are easy care with no deadheading needed. A bit of fertilizer or some compost in a garden bed is usually all that is needed for these plants to thrive. Due to their heat-loving nature they are one of the plants that can be planted even during the heat of mid-summer.
Don't forget that Angelface are great long lasting cut flowers with a slight grape soda fragrance. Try some in a flower arrangement this year and see for yourself!
An application of fertilizer or compost on garden beds and regular fertilization of plants in pots will help ensure the best possible performance.

I have few options at the local nursery. Wedgewood was the only PW angelonia, eh not great but what the heck it's PW. Later that summer it was putting on a great show in ground part sun. It beefed up and put out several flower stalks at a time. I teamed it with a short red abutilon, whiteout verbena and snowdrift petunia. Very pretty and aptly name as it looks like china. The color isn't saturated but the contrasting white made it visible from the house. An added bonus is that my local bugs don't eat it. Low maintenance high return plant.

This is about the best angelonia I've tried. My garden has clayey soil, and the spot they were in got direct sun much of the day. It might have had some shade, but not much. When other plants were wilting in heat, this one didn't! I plan to buy some for this year.
