Sweet Emotion differs from other popular abelia; do not automatically apply same production methods.
Blooms on old wood – do not prune or trim after mid-summer if intending to sell next season.
Trim frequently to force prolific branching.
More cold tolerant than other abelias.
Abelia grow best with low to average moisture; media should dry slightly between waterings. Good drainage is essential.
Do not fertilize when plant is dormant.
Plants must be at desired sale size before overwintering.
Fragrance is important selling point – attempt to ship in bud or early bloom to ensure high sell-through.
