For all sizes of containers, pinch the liner 1–2 weeks after transplant; for containers larger than 6” and for hanging baskets, trim around the edge of the container as needed prior to spacing or hanging of the baskets.

5-10 ppm Sumagic is effective. Cool temperature is also an effective growth regulator.

Preventative fungicide drench at transplant is highly recommended. Proper root establishment can be encouraged by keeping soil moisture levels low, maintaining proper pH (5.8 to 6.2), and maintaining good sanitation practices. Increased air circulation and good soil porosity are also critical. Good sanitation practices include keeping greenhouses clean at all times, eliminating weeds and debris, disinfecting equipment in greenhouses as often as possible and keeping hose ends off of the greenhouse floor. Good water management practices are critical for good, healthy plant growth.

Grower Tips:

-Requires high light in production, timing plants for mid-spring sales and later when higher light is available for plant growth will improve ease of crop production. -Warm and slightly dry conditions after transplanting speeds root in and growth. -Use fungicide drench to protect roots under wet conditions or better yet grow them dry. -First 10 days after transplant are critical for success. -Proper air movement, water management, and temperatures are critical. To produce better small pots frequent pinches can be utilized. Be sure to establish a good root system in a warm environment before growing cold. Well drained soil is best.
