Aubrieta
Early Spring Finish. Standard PPP.
Pinching is not usually necessary, but can be done if needed. Growth regulation isn't necessary. Growth can be controlled using cold temperature.
General pest and disease practices as listed in the notes. Scout for aphids and treat as needed. Botrytis can be problematic when overhead watering is used.
-If plants are being grown cold, for instance in a cold frame, once the plants are moved to warm temperatures blooming will commence. This will allow some level of crop scheduling.
-Plants are very dense and overhead watering, especially after flowering begins, can cause botrytis in the greenhouse.
-These plants should be easy to grow and have an extended bloom time over older varieties.
-Vernalization is needed for good flowering, but temperatures do not need to be as cold or as long as older varieties.
-Can be used as a winter annual in the deep south.
