    Features

    Three colors on one plant!

Colorful, durable shrubs are what we are all about, and we're pleased to add Dandy Man Color Wheel® rhododendron to our selection. Seeing its glorious blooms is bound to make you a fan as well - they start out as lipstick-red buds and open to reveal big, ruffled blooms with deep pink undersides and soft pink insides. The blooms age to a pure, clean white before falling off. As the plant goes through its late spring bloom period, you'll see all three at once, making for a super colorful display. Handsome, leathery leaves carry it through the rest of the year. But it's not just a pretty face - it also has excellent disease resistance (including to phytophthora) and heat tolerance.

Top reasons to grow Dandy Man Color Wheel rhododendron:

    - Blooms go through many color phases, with the effect of three different colors on the plant at once.

    - Handsome leathery evergreen foliage.

    - Disease resistant.

    Uses Notes:

With its robust frame and showy blooms, Dandy Man Color Wheel rhododendron would make a truly memorable specimen, but it can also be planted as a hedge or backdrop for a garden.

    Maintenance Notes:

Like other rhododendron, Dandy Man Color Wheel requires acidic, well-drained soil. A good 2-3"/5-7cm layer of shredded bark mulch does a lot to keep the roots happy and foster the soil conditions that rhododendrons prefer.

May be pruned selectively as desired, but avoid any kind of regular pruning or cutting back. You may remove the spent blooms if you wish, but it is not necessary by any stretch.

    • Blooming right now and so beautiful! I waited a year to make sure this plant would work out. And this plant has rewarded me with the most amazing flowers.

    • Absolutely awful! I was so excited for these but have been nothing but disappointed. I’ve now purchased 5 of these plants in total and every one of them has died! I initially bought 3 … but one didn’t make it more than a coue of months. I sent in pictures and was told it looked like something had chewed part of the plant which then killed it entirely so okay I bought a replacement. After getting the replacement a second one of the original plants turned brown and died, this time no evidence of chewing or whatever. Bought a replacement for the second plant. This is now the spring after the second winter and all 3 plants are completely dead! Never once had a bloom on them and never grew bigger than the original 8-10 inch size that they arrived us! Feeling completely let down!

    • I bought this plant from Proven Winners 4 years ago and still have not seen any blooms. PW should consider growing plants that will flower in the next season. Disappointed.

    • This plant is stunning. The color change from deep pink to white is striking, and it is tough! Easily handles full sun or part shade. Lots of flowers each year.
